"Magic" is not the first Broadway musical with a ballroom theme and it won't be the last. "Ballroom," with a book by Jerome Kass, Lyrics by Marilyn and Alan Bergman, and a score by Billy Goldenberg was introduced to Broadway in 1978 under the direction of Michael Bennett. Based on the teleplay "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom," it featured many ballroom dances from foxtrot to hustle.
